Jess Soccorsi

Jess is a multi-genre singer/songwriter getting after her dreams from Nashville, TN. ⁣

⁣With Jess, every new day is another opportunity to follow God’s lead, step out in faith, and make the moves that keep moving things forward. To her, it’s not just about the arrival to a dream, but the journey along the way. Even with the ups and downs that come with making progress, Jess’s mantra that, “If you keep going, you’ll see a win”, continues to prove true. ⁣

⁣Whether Jess is writing for other artists, Film/TV spots, or her own music projects, her heart and creativity is felt throughout every song. For Jess, it’s never just about the song, but for how God will use it, and the impact that will be made through it.

What dream are you currently turning into reality?

Currently, I’m getting to do multiple things that I love – I’ve been writing music professionally for the last six years, just having recently renewed my publishing deal with Curb | Word Entertainment as a songwriter. I get to write worship music, Christian contemporary, pop, film/tv and work on my own artist project as well.

Along with writing, I’ve been working for the last two years in college ministry helping lead, facilitate and occasionally even teach this generation of college students who are studying a variety of different focuses and industries. Many of them are focusing on worship leadership, songwriting and production - So, it’s been such a gift to be able to sow into that and help equip them in areas I’ve been pursuing myself.

When did you first realize you discovered your dream?

I honestly think that’s a lifelong journey, especially when you’re being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. There’s never been a sense of destination arrival, but more so growing steadily in the directions I’ve felt the Lord leading me, both creatively and spiritually.

How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?

I believe the Lord births dreams and purpose within our hearts in the way He created each one of us individually. I’ve gotten into the habit of asking Him which dreams are His God-dreams, and which ones are mine.

I’ve always been a firm believer that each one of us has our own unique gifts, assignments and expression of the Father’s heart, and no one else can duplicate it. So, for me - It comes down to partnering with Him and being intentional to walk out the journey with His leading and strength, not my own.

What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?

For me, it’s vital to spend time with Jesus, journaling, reading, and speaking truths out loud about who I am and whose I am. If I’m not being intentional to renew my mind, everything else suffers.

I am very high in organization and planning, but also highly creative which makes sticking to it a labor of love :) So, on a practical side - I do my best to block out time for things that are important to help me grow, like time spent learning new areas of music and production, or time spent idea collecting/free writing.

What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?

One thing that has continually fueled me is just this phrase I kept saying to myself when I first came to Nashville 7 years ago… “If you keep going, you’ll see a win.” I truly believe when we choose to not give up and not quit in any area of our lives, we are actively participating in seed planting whether we know it or not. Any seed you plant has to yield a harvest, so if you don’t give up, you will grow and become fruitful. It may not always look the way you dreamed it would, but you will see a win if you keep going.
