Throughout his life, Devin always had a heart for people and a passion for the fashion industry. As someone led by faith, Devin took the steps needed to move closer to his dreams. Over time, he found himself in the middle of significant opportunity, and he decided to step toward each one. Those moments provided more pathways to work with innovative creative, companies, and influential brands.
While Devin continues building his dreams in fashion, He’s also pursuing his dreams in ministry. As a kids pastor, he helps guide the next generation, encouraging and empowering them to become all God has created them to be. What dream are you currently turning into reality?
I’m currently a fashion model and pursuing my degree in children's ministry at Southeastern University in Nashville, TN. My ultimate dream is to walk in a couture runway show while also being a kids pastor.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
When I was very young, I had a passion for the arts. As I grew, I began to love fashion and loved learning all there was to know about it. As my love for fashion continued, I knew I wanted to put my passion into action by pursuing modeling as a career.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
So often my dreams are about me - What I want for my life, or what's good for me. But, I try to live by the example Jesus gave which was to put others completely first. Also, I found to really live out your dream, you have to let go of your own way and hold onto His plan. Once I let go, it allows God to work through me in pursuing my dreams.
What are some practical steps you take to keep moving forward?
I start every day at 5 am with an hour workout and daily quiet time. I also like to plan my day the night before. It’s encouraging to practice mindfulness, and I make sure to put my mental health first.
What encouragement would you give someone who’s going after their dream?
Pursuing your dreams will encourage others to do the same, and that reason alone will help you keep going. It will get you through the hardest times and be a constant help for you to persevere.
