Nina Marshall
We’re stoked to have our friend Nina Marshall with us for this week’s Dreamos Round Table! Nina’s a professional photographer from upstate New York, now pursuing her dreams from Nashville, TN.
It’s been two years since Nina packed up her life in New York to start a new adventure in Nashville. Since following her faith to the South, Nina’s had incredible opportunities to work with record labels for artist content, capture memories through wedding photography, and collaborate with some of the most brilliant creatives in the city.
Whatever project she’s a part of, Nina’s faith in God, and belief in others, turns every shoot into an unforgettable experience. We know you’ll be encouraged and inspired as you hear more from her heart, story, and pursuit.
What dream are you currently turning into reality?
Being a full time creative/photographer has always been a dream of mine. Since moving to Nashville, it’s become a reality.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
At first, I didn’t really think of photography as a dream, but more as a skill to learn and have fun with. But, my eyes were soon opened to the depth and opportunities associated with it as a skill.
From that moment on, I started dreaming of who I’d work with, what kind of work I’d create, and all the places I’d get to go and create.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
My relationship with God has been one I’ve always known, but since moving to Nashville, it has grown alongside my photography aspirations.
Being able to connect with people who know my love for God allows me to be myself during shoots and love people like Jesus while creating with them. It feels like I’m serving God in the best way just by using my gift to serve others.
What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?
Daily affirmations are KEY. Affirmations are one of my love languages, so tying that into self-love routines is important to keep me going creatively.
Another step I’ve been taking is being mindful on social media! It’s easy as a creative to compare and think we’re not good enough, or we don’t create enough. When I feel like that, my remedy is to “sign off” and go create something new!
What encouragement would you give someone who’s going after their dream?
Keep going - Be open to change and adapt to the circumstances that come your way. I don’t always get to create the exact content I want, or where I want to, but every opportunity is another chance to learn something new. It might not be an ideal location or situation, but it better equips me for the days I get to shoot in perfect conditions.
