What dream are you currently turning into reality?

I’m currently working as a business owner for my Christian clothing brand “For The One Co”. I also enjoy film photography, and am a full time student pursuing a career in emergency medicine.

Since I was 16, I always struggled with the notion that I had to choose just one dream or career to pursue. I felt like I had all of these passions the Lord put on my heart and I had no idea how I was going to choose just one.

As I’ve grown and gotten older, I realized just how wrong that mindset was for me. The Lord gave me each of these dreams for a reason. There may be times where you have to focus and work on one more than the other, but that doesn’t mean you have to permanently push those other passions the Lord has put on your heart to the side.

As a business owner and full time student, I’m still working to cultivate the little dreams I have, such as film photography and even worship leading in my free time.

When did you first realize you discovered your dream?

My clothing brand was actually a dream that developed over the last couple of years. I’ve always loved to create and felt that there wasn’t much room for that in university, so “For The One Co” has been the biggest blessing. It has paved a way for me to create meaningful clothing that starts Godly conversations as well as helped develop my love for film photography.

Also, for as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to work in the medical field. The ability to love and serve people in a practical way that reflects the very heart of God for them is such a beautiful gift.

How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?

My faith is at the forefront of everything that I do. Behind every single dream/passion that I have is the goal to share the Gospel and the love of God.

Whether it’s creating a Christian clothing brand, doing photography, working in the medical field, or worship leading, my goal in every single one of those career pursuits is the same - To be the hands and feet of Jesus.

What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?

I tend to be the person that focuses on the broad picture instead of each individual detail. So, something that has been extremely helpful for me to overcome has been to create practical weekly goals and a daily schedule.

It may feel insignificant at the time, but it takes those small, mundane steps, to accomplish big dreams. Soon enough, you’ll look back and be blown away by the progress you’ve made.

What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?

Something that has helped me persevere the most has been setting aside time each day to spend with Jesus, no matter how busy I am. Doing this has helped me stay focused on the reason I’m pursuing my dream in the first place, as well as helped me stay true to myself throughout the whole process.

Working towards a dream is full of ups and downs. It can feel tough at times, but partner with God on the journey and stay close to Him daily. Even in the midst of chaos and stress, He will bring stability and peace.
