Madison Watkins
We’re absolutely stoked to welcome our friend and killer music artist, Madison Watkins, to the Dreamos Round Table. Madison’s a soul/pop singer from Arkansas now building her dreams in Los Angeles, CA.
After being on America’s Got Talent, she gained nationwide exposure in the pop world. She’s now bringing back the 80s flare with her music, big voice, and even bigger hair.
Her latest single “Broken” came out just last week, so make sure to playlist it and hit repeat as you hear more from her heart, story, and pursuit.
What dream are you currently turning into reality?
I’m a pop artist/singer-songwriter.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
I heard a Whitney Houston song being played on my karaoke machine, and that’s when I knew I wanted to be a pop singer when I grew up. I was only 10, but I knew I was called to be a professional singer - I just didn’t know how I was going to fulfill that calling, because I lived in Arkansas. It’s so cool to see how God brought me from there, to where I’m at now.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
My relationship with God is the reason for the dream, the Person who gave me the desire for the dream. Without Him, I couldn’t be pursuing all that I am. I am so grateful for His plan for my life and how specific He has been with me. He told me at a young age I would change the world with my voice. Ever since, I have continued to be faithful to pursue a career in singing to impact people through my music.
What encouragement would you give someone who’s going after their dream?
Remembering your “why” will always encourage you. There will be days you want to give up, not feel good enough, etc. Knowing why you are doing what you are doing will always bring you back to feeling motivated. I would also say to keep people around you that will always be honest. It’s easy to find “yes people,” who tell you what you want to hear, but not always those who will help to grow and refine you.
