What dream are you currently turning into reality?

I just graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, CA. My dream is to start my own brand of clothing one day. I’m currently working with other brands, gaining as much experience as I can.

When did you first realize you discovered your dream?

I first realized this dream of mine a couple of months after I graduated high school. I was originally planning on attending a four year university in Oklahoma, majoring in business. Three weeks before the move in date, I completely backed out - I knew I would be settling and ultimately knew it wasn’t what God had for me.

Later, a close mentor of mine asked me what my dream was. I answered with having my purpose and passions lined up. My passion was fashion, always had been. That’s when I started doing research on different fashion institutes.

How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?

Constantly pursuing Jesus. A scripture that I quote everyday is Matthew 6:33 - “Seek first the kingdom of God and all of these things will be added unto you.” Your faith is something that’s gonna be tested every day - Which is why it’s so important to always be in tune with His voice.

What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?

I do my best to have a daily schedule - example - Waking up early and spending time with Jesus. I’ve learned in the past that if I start my day out the right way, I’m more productive throughout the day. Goal setting is important as well. Once you know you want something, go for it.

What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?

The dreams that you have in your heart were placed by God, and He placed them there for a reason. Don’t discredit that. Pray about them. Surrender them to God. Everyday, make steps towards making it happen - even if they’re baby steps.
