What dream are you currently turning into reality?
Using my eye to create content for other brands and artists. It’s a true joy to be a visual storyteller for others through prop styling, set design, and art direction.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
I have been a creative my whole life. I started in the music industry playing classical viola. I had a freak accident in my twenties that forced my hand to reassess my career and I shifted into the fashion industry. It wasn’t until 2014 when tragedy hit, that my head and heart had to rest and grieve. I think I was more malleable to think outside of the box over what I could do for work, and what would give me great joy. Eventually, I learned that I could combine skills from most of my jobs to do this one very versatile and creative thing that I really love.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
I try to seek work that is life giving - Work that I can see honor in its purpose, or how I can be used well for it. I am so incredibly aware of how short our time is on this earth, and I don't want to squander it. So I try and live in a place of immense gratitude, draw inspiration from nature, and just praise the Lord for allowing this journey.
What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?
I like larger goal setting for the next 5 years, but I think a daily check-in is smart. I find I can become easily distracted, so taking time to recenter is really needed.
What encouragement would you give someone who’s going after their dream?
Find a mentor - Someone with a strong and honest work ethic who can help you navigate the bumps along the road.
