What dream are you currently turning into reality?

I’m pursuing my dream of becoming a full-time session producer/drummer & touring musician in both the secular & Christian music scenes.

When did you first realize you discovered your dream?

I realized my dream when I was 18 - My band LAITY and I toured across the country for the first time, and seeing people encounter the love of God for the first time through music was so powerful. It made me realize there needs to be more art made by believers that is consumable by non-believers.

How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?

My spiritual life is behind everything I create. I think I can prophetically tap into the gifts & tools God has given me even when I’m producing a secular song - God doesn't necessarily only show up when I’m playing worship music.

Everytime I come up with a fantastic idea in the studio or perfectly execute a drum part on tour, I know that God’s behind it. I think He’s the best musician in the world, and all I have to do is let Him move through me for His glory.

What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?

I make a list for myself everyday - From most important things to least important. I find it rewarding to check them off throughout the day. It’s also important to make time for myself - Whether that means doing something mindless with my friends or going to a coffee shop by myself for a bit.

What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?

While being talented and drawing inspiration from other artists is helpful in the creative process, the only edge anyone can actually have on the creative industry is creating from out of who they are. Seems crazy, but the reality is - There's art that literally only you can create. You’re the only one who can offer that unique style you bring to the table.

ALSO don’t let people take advantage of you just because you’re a young artist. Know your worth and embrace it. If your art is your profession then it is just as valuable as anyone else’s profession, don’t let anyone else treat you otherwise.
