What dream are you currently turning into reality?
I’m in full-time vocational ministry at a local church, and love it! This is a way for me to serve others and grow as a leader and creative.
This lifestyle also allows me to pursue creative endeavors in my daily work through creating digital content, as well as organizing events and crafting talks. I’m also able to use my free time to create passion projects (weddings, lifestyle, brand shoots, etc.) with friends and online connections.
There is no higher calling than living a life of purpose with Jesus at the center, and doing local church ministry happened to be the perfect avenue for me to do just that.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
Growing up, I would often ask the questions, “How do I know I am using my life the right way? How do I know I’m not wasting it?”. As I got older, I realized the answer may be simpler than I thought.
I’ve come to the conclusion that as long as you’re doing what you love, what you’re good at, and what the world needs; You’ll find yourself living a life of purpose. I believe that’s God’s will for everyone.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
I would never have entered creative ministry if it weren’t for my relationship with God. I know there’s a personal God who’s chasing after me, forgiving me and loving me. That’s what gets me out of bed. It’s what keeps me from missing deadlines. It’s what gives me the strength to have hard conversations, and it’s what makes me push myself to learn new things and get more creative.
What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?
We are the product of the people we spend time with, the media we take in, and the books we read. Because of this, I try to be very intentional with who I’m letting speak into the direction of my life, what I read, and what I listen to.
I’ve made it a goal to read 52 books that will help me grow, and watch 52 movies that will inspire me each year. Doing this has been transformational for me and my creativity.
What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?
Realize we all make mistakes and we can all learn from everyone. So, try new things and ask more questions - Take those steps of faith.
