Jesse Molloy
We're completely stoked to have our friend and absolute legend, Jesse Molloy, with us for this week’s Dreamos Round Table. Jesse plays saxophone for Panic At The Disco, The Midnight, and produces music in the duo, Crush Effect. Based in LA, and building his dreams in music, Jesse’s had the opportunity to play shows at Madison Square Garden with Panic, The Roundhouse in London with The Midnight, and Coachella with Crush Effect. Jesse’s just as passionate for people as he is for music, and we know you’ll be encouraged and inspired as you hear from his story and pursuit.
What dream are you currently turning into reality?
More than ever, especially in this time we are in, I’m producing a lot. The newest dream is making something new that wasn’t there before - Creating sounds from a spark of creativity that just comes together. Those moments are gifts.
When did you first realize you discovered your dream?
At 9 ½ yrs old, after seeing a sax player one evening play, I told my parents that the saxophone could bring my insides to the outside. I knew early on that music was an expression for me, even before I started playing. Records connected with me and this other language began.
How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?
Music is a gift from Him and playing is a form of worship. My desire and intention is to play prayerfully. That doesn’t always happen, but it has become the essence for me - To express moments from the heart. Music is an opportunity to be salt and light - To create an opportunity for someone to be curious about an amazing God who has a purpose and future for each of us.
What encouragement would you give someone who’s going after their dream?
My prayer life is my daily beacon. I take steps towards what God lays in my heart from that space. Once I realized that my music was to be of service for others, things shifted for me - At that point, each gig had the same intention no matter how small or grand.
