What dream are you currently turning into reality?

God showed me long ago that it shouldn’t be our goal to simply incorporate Him into what we do, but make Him the source of leadership and wisdom in everything we are a part of. Feeling called to the marketplace, I am passionate about not incorporating Jesus into it, but incorporating the realm of business into my life with Jesus.

Having recently graduated college with my business management degree, God put it on my heart years back to pursue business in hopes of one day having my own humanitarian focused organization. It would not only work to fulfill a physical need for humanity, but also express and share the ultimate need of Jesus Christ and relationship with Him.

I’ve learned we need to take practical steps forward that solidify our faith and make our dreams become a reality. I’m joining the Circuit Riders in Huntington Beach, CA to do just this before stepping into business fully! I just know that I know that God is going to show up in radical ways and that He delights to meet us when we step out in faith.

When did you first realize you discovered your dream?

Before I met the Lord, I had always had a longing to work in the humanitarian field. But, when I found friendship with Jesus, something I thought was interesting exploded into a beautiful and vibrant dream I realized had been a part of His plan all along.

I think the first time I really discovered I was meant to use business to spread the Gospel was when Christ really became my best friend. He confirmed things in me and around me and passion turned into a flame that burned deeply in my heart. As time went on, I knew it wasn’t a fleeting passion or spontaneous desire. The burning I felt to meet the world with Jesus in this way not only remained consistent, but seemed to increase.

I’ve learned that God always has the best plans in mind for my life, and when I am with Him, He will breathe on my passions and bring life into them.

How does your faith go hand in hand with pursuing your dream?

If Jesus isn’t at the center of what I do, I know it won’t be lasting. Like I explained, Jesus should not be implemented into our dreams, but be the very essence and purpose from which they are birthed.

Everything else is implemented into our life with Jesus. He is the flame that ignites our mission and calling. He is the only One that is lasting. The cause of Christ should be the cause of us doing anything. Seeing others be met with the love of Jesus we claim to know should be the fire that fuels us into everything else we do.

I claimed to be a Christian for a long time until the cause of Christ actually became my own. This was only through the personal revelation of the cross and who He is. I learned and am still learning that Jesus should be my most holy pursuit in this life, and anything not established by Him will ultimately fall away. Proverbs 3:5-6 explains, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” I can’t trust Him unless I take time to know Him, and in knowing Him the cause of Christ in my life is brought forth through intimate insight from Him.

What’s one or two practical steps you take to keep moving forward?

Being someone who used to feel unproductive if I wasn’t working, and feeling like I had to strive to feel like I was moving forward, I would take every practical step I could get from anyone if it meant I was getting somewhere I wasn’t before. But man was I wrong in my heart posture in this. God has renewed my mind to now understand what it looks like to keep moving forward in my life.

One thing. Take time away to spend with God. That’s it. We know David in the Bible as a man of power and great responsibility, but also a man of intimacy with God. In Psalm 27, he says, “One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.” David had everything, and the one thing He asked for more of was the presence of God.

Time with God is never wasted time. In fact, the Bible says it’s the best place to be - ever: “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere” (Psalm 84:10). I found that in my time with God, then creating a space for Him to invade with His dreams and vision for my life would follow. I would ask Him, “God what do you want this to look like in my life?” “What are the first steps I should take?” Being practical in getting vision with God in that time was a game changer.

What encouragement would you share with someone who’s going after their dream?

If God spoke it, keep going after the dream He has for your life with unshakeable faith. I found that many times I also had to take a step out even when His Word didn’t seem like it was moving.

Partnering with Him in our heart posture and our actions is the easiest way to see if what we are pursuing is from Him. Isaiah 55:11 explains, “so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” This verse has helped me when I’ve been discouraged in my dreams from God. My faith in Him is what helps me trust that He could also be doing things behind the scenes, and it’s an invitation from Him to cling tighter to Him as life plans unravel.
